"Thousands of Palestinians on Sunday gathered at the mosque for the first day of the Muslim festival of Eid al-Adha. The day coincided with the Jewish holiday of Tisha B'Av, which typically sees an increase in Jewish visitors to the holy site. A large numbers of Palestinians had gathered at the gates of the compound following reports that the police would allow Jewish visitors to enter the site."
"International scholars are important to universities throughout the world. Their unique perspectives, emanating from different cultures and places, enrichen intellectual conversations among students and faculty. International scholars help orient local students toward global citizenship, and in turn those students help visiting scholars to understand their host country and culture better."
"The roads leading to the Wadi al-Hummus area of Sur Baher are narrow, bumpy, full of potholes and so steep your heart skips a beat and your hand switches to first gear. These narrow arteries are surrounded by very dense construction, inconsistent in its style and quality. Here and there, a few ancient stone buildings stand out, their beauty untainted despite the rushed additions of a floor or a few rooms."
"Residents of the village's Wadi al-Hummus neighbourhood told local media on Monday that 16 residential buildings with about 100 apartments were being demolished. "Preparations started past midnight as hundreds of armed Israeli occupying soldiers/ bulldozers stormed the town. Families threatened with demolitions were woken up/ moved out of their homes," said a tweet by the Palestinian Liberation Organization (PLO)."
"In the past, his conclusions have been heavily criticised by the United States and Israel. Lynk's recommendations are not legally-binding. While his requests may seem overly ambitious, Palestinian activists could well see them as a useful alternative to a formal peace process that has largely ground to a halt. Israel's mission to the UN did not immediately respond to Al Jazeera’s request for comment."
