APHEDA Fundraising Dinner and Book Launch
with Olfat Mahmoud: Tears for Tarshiha
Melbourne, VIC
Don’t miss this special fundraising dinner hosted by the Victorian Branch of the MUA and APHEDA, featuring Union Aid Abroad Co-Founder, Helen McCue and Olfat Mahmoud, founder and director of long-time APHEDA partner the Palestinian Women’s Humanitarian Organisation (PWHO) based at the Bourj al Bourajneh refugee camp in Lebanon.
Olfat will be in Melbourne to talk about the present day plight of Palestinian and Syrian refugees in Lebanon. She will also talk about the Palestinian Right of Return on which her new book Tears for Tarshiha is based. In the book which is being launched across Australia, Olfat tells the story of her career as a registered nurse, peace activist and director of PWHO.
Tears for Tarshiha highlights Olfat’s life mission – to fulfil the dream of her parents and grandparents to return to their hometown, Tarshiha in Palestine.
Tickets include a buffet curry dinner lovingly cooked and prepared by the amazing women from servicestars. Curries will be served mild and full of flavour, with vegetarian/vegan options. Extra spice can be added for those who like it HOT.
NB: Additional special dietary requirements must be specified by email (sbond@apheda.org.au) by no later than Friday 20th July.
