Leaflet action of SBS staff: Boycott Eurovision 2019 in Israel

We want SBS staff, management and the SBS board to know that many people are astonished and appalled that SBS is - so far - treating Eurovision 2019 in Israel as if it's business as usual, despite the well-reported tragedies happening to Palestinians every day. As we wrote to SBS directors:

'It is an insufficient response to say that “the whole point of Eurovision is to forget politics,” as, [former Managing Director] Michael Ebeid, did to a Senate Estimates question in May this year. Are you, and is SBS, to forget human rights? Are you, and is SBS, to forget international law? Would you have supported SBS broadcasting a cultural or sporting competition from apartheid-era South Africa when it was under international boycott and sanctions? We are sure the answer is no. In retrospect it is inconceivable that SBS would have whitewashed the actions of the racist South African regime.'
