Stand with Palestine: Support the refugees’ right of return

Perth, WA

2019-05-perth-nakba.jpg

May 15th 1948 marks the day that over 750,000 Palestinians were expelled from their homes and made refugees. In 1948, the establishment of the Israeli state in Palestine through violent ethnic cleansing not only forced Palestinians from their homes, but also led to massacres and the destruction of entire villages.

After more than 70 years this bloodshed has not been forgotten. Indeed the state of Israel's military occupation of Palestinian land and the denial of Palestinian human rights, including the right of Palestinians to return to their homeland, remains an ongoing, daily injustice. A year ago, Palestinians in Gaza commenced a weekly #GreatReturnMarch. Since Palestinian Land Day, on March 30 last year, Israeli Occupation Forces have killed more than two hundred Palestinians in Gaza, peacefully demanding their right of return, and injured thousands more.

Meanwhile the US government has given recognition to Jerusalem as Israel's capital (supported by the Morrison government) and Israel's illegal annexation of the Golan Heights.

Join Friends of Palestine WA and the Palestinian Community of WA to commemorate the Nakba (catastrophe) and to protest against the ongoing occupation of Palestine, on Saturday May 25th, 11am at Yagan Square, corner of William and Wellington Streets, Perth.

We call for the right of return of Palestinian refugees, an international arms embargo on Israel and an end to the Israeli siege of Gaza.

Saturday 25 May 2019, 11am-1pm
