Friends of Palestine WA - Annual General Meeting

On Monday 7th August, at 6.30pm, Friends of Palestine WA will hold its Annual General Meeting at Citiplace Community Centre (above Perth train station). All members and anyone interested in joining FOPWA is welcome to attend.

This meeting comes at an important juncture in building a campaign to defend Palestinian human rights, Israel’s occupation of Palestine and end Israeli apartheid. The meeting will feature a report back from the BDS-Driving Global Justice for Palestine conference in Sydney (July 28-29). Right now in the West Bank Israel is pursuing new provocations against Palestinians, restricting access to the Al Aqsa mosque. In Gaza, a decade long Israeli blockade is making life harder than ever with Israel, Egypt and the Abbas-led Palestinian Authority engaged in collective punishment of Gaza’s two million Palestinians.

Israel is facing increasing isolation internationally as a consequence of the Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions campaign. Closer to home, the Australian Labor Party is now debating support for Palestinian “statehood”, though remains firmly committed to maintaining friendly relations with Israel.
